Summertime temps are at an all time high this year. No better way to cool off than a cocktail or maybe three. Based on our experience, doing ‘research’ at bars around the world, some of the finest cocktails can be found at luxury hotel bars. And it’s a great way to experience the hotel even the price of the room isn’t in your budget. Here are a few of the best sexy summer cocktails from around the world found at hotel bars:
1. “Liquid Nitrogen Mojito” at SLS Hotel, Los Angeles, CA
When you order this at the Bazaar Bar inside the SLS Hotel, expect a show. A cart comes to your table escorted by a liquid nitrogen professional. The liquid nitrogen creates a billowing of white smoke as its mixed in with the mint, sugar and rum. The frosty mix is topped with a sprinkle of edible flowers and served with a spoon.
2. “Key West Cooler” at The Dolder Grand, Zurich, Switzerland
Despite its proximity to Lake Zurich, The Dolder Grand is channeling the Sunshine State with their “Key West Cooler.” Made with Absolut Citron, Malibu, peach liqueur, Midori-Melon liqueur, cranberry juice, passion fruit juice and blueberries, the cocktail brings tropical flavors to Switzerland this summer.
3. “Summer Blossom Tea” at Hyatt Regency Atlanta, GA
Set in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Twenty -Two Storys at Hyatt Regency Atlanta is serving up a “Summer Blossom Tea” to give guests relief from the blazing southern sun. The cocktail blends passion fruit, orange and hibiscus with cranberry juice, fresh lemon and agave nectar, for a fruity drink with fresh flavors.
4. “Star Spangled Sangria” at Omni Bedford Springs, PA
Who doesn’t love sangria in the summer or really anytime for that matter? Omni Bedford Springs in Pennsylvania is celebrating America all summer long with a patriotic twist on traditional summer sangria. The resort’s “Star Spangled Sangria” is made with Sauvignon Blanc, raspberry vodka, brandy and berries and looks as festive as fireworks.
5. “Pain Killer” at Caneel Bay, USVI
The Caribbean and frothy coconut drinks are synonymous. Caneel Bay’s “Pain Killer” is sure to have sippers on the Caribbean island satisfied and refreshed all summer long. To make at home combine Cruzan dark rum, cream of coconut, pineapple juice and orange juice over ice and top with nutmeg.
6. “Farmer’s Tan Martini” at Hotel Vermont, Burlington, VT
Closest thing you’ll get to a supplement cocktails. The “Farmer’s Tan Martini” stays true to Hotel Vermont’s philosophy of using the best local and organic ingredients in all of its recipes, combining the pickled vegetable of the day (recently pickled fiddleheads, those cute spiral-looking green veggies), local Barr Hill vodka or gin, pickling juice and a vegetable salt rim.
7. “Bora Bora” at Le Méridien Bora Bora
This island getaway serves a chilly treat to help its guests beat the heat. The “Bora Bora” combines white rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, fresh banana and coconut milk in a blender with a spoonful of ice. The frothy drink is garnished with a piece of pineapple and a tropical flower.
8. “Cayman Lemonade” at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa
Adult lemonade? Yes, please! Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa amps up the summer classic with gin, peach schnapps, lime juice and cranberry juice, for lemonade with some extra punch.
9. “From Italy with Love” at Il Lugano, Fort Lauderdale, FL
It’s Italy meets Mexico. Served at il Lugano’s signature Italian restaurant, da Campo de Osteria, the “From Italy with Love” cocktail combines Patron Silver, cointreau, berries and citrus. To make at home, shake fresh muddled berries, fresh squeezed lemons, 1.5 oz of Patron Silver and .5 oz of Cointreau until well blended. Serve over ice and enjoy!
10. “London Tokyo” at DUKES St. James, London
This summer DUKES Bar is serving up a new cocktail inspired by the charm and allure of Japan. Made with a unique gin infused with Japanese Shiso leaves and created in collaboration with the local Sacred Distillery, the “London Tokyo” also includes dry vermouth and Yuzu liquor, made from Japanese lemons.
11. “Spice Bazaar” at Marti Istanbul Hotel, Turkey
The Spice Bazaar was one of our favorite excursions in Istanbul, now you can experience in it a glass too. For a spicy take on the summer cocktail try BRASS restaurant’s “Spice Bazaar” at the Marti Istanbul Hotel. Made with vodka, fresh mint leaves, star aniseed, ground cinnamon, simple syrup, fresh ginger slices and orange juice, the zesty concoction will rejuvenate guests in the ancient city this summer.
12. “Milanese Caipirinha” at Hotel Principe di Savoia, Milan, Italy
The Brazilian spirit, Cachaca, is an ideal mixer for summer cocktails. This Dorchester Collection property is serving up an Italian twist on the classic cocktail, combining Cachaca Velha, lime and orange in an old fashioned cocktail glass with muddled pure sugar cane and a small pinch of saffron spice. Topped off with ice, a cinnamon stick, a sprinkle of saffron and a lime wedge, the sweet summer drink is becoming a favorite among guests at Hotel Principe di Savioa this summer.
13. “Northern Lights” at Omni Mount Washington Resort, NH
Pretty in pink, no doubt. Concocted by Stickney bartenders Frank George and Craig Allen, “Northern Lights” is a refreshing drink featuring dramatic pink and purple hues that imitate the alpine glow seen along the Presidential Mountain Range at the Omni Mount Washington Resort.
14. “Thin Mint” at Hotel Madeline Telluride, CO
As the 2013 Telluride Film Festival starts August 29th, it’s a great time to visit Southern Colorado’s swankiest historic town. Perched atop the mountain at 9,545 feet in Telluride, Colorado, Hotel Madeline is rewarding adventure enthusiasts who come to the destination for its world-class hiking, mountain biking and river rafting, with the iconic American treat – but with a twist. From the “Adult Shakes” menu in Hotel Madeline’s Smak Bar, guests can reminisce a bit of their childhood with the booze-infused “Thin Mint”.
