Ok WestJet, you win! This brilliant PR stunt brought a tear to our eyes! The WestJet holiday surprise was indeed a Christmas miracle for hundreds of lucky passengers on two of their flights this past week. The video has gone viral on social media, and the airline deserves all the kudos they are getting for celebrating and bringing these passengers some unexpected holiday joy!
Before boarding, WestJet asked passengers for their Christmas wishes via a virtual Santa on a television screen. Behind the scenes, airline employees took notes, and when the two flights landed in Calgary (one from Hamilton and one from Toronto), passengers were all taken to the baggage claim area, where down the conveyer belt came wrapped packages containing the gifts for which they had wished. Gifts ranged from Android tablets and big-screen TVs to snowboards and skivvies.
We’ve flown WestJet a few times and have always been impressed with their friendly service, and joyous personality. As people say, company morale stems from the top down, and with this latest move, we’re pretty sure that means the people running WestJet (or at least their marketing campaigns) are pretty darn cool people to come up with a stunt like this! Nicely done.
And now, all we really want to know now is, how’s that guy who asked for socks feeling?

WestJet definitely has a good sense of humor. We both got to witness a Knotts Berry Farm themed (yes, we got to hang with Snoopy) launch of the direct flight from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport flight to Calgary, Alberta in the summer of 2011. Highlights by Lindsay via JohnnyJet.com here.
