What would the end of a year be if not a time for reflections and setting goals for 2015? There are things 2014 had in common with years past, and a lot that was a vast departure. (no pun intended!)
For Lanee, the travel schedule maintained a strong and steady pace, adding Scotland, Thailand, New Zealand, and Iceland to the destination checklist. For Lindsay, the travel pace slowed significantly, and she’s out of the running for competing for passport stamps. That said, she did notch one of the coolest passport stamps on the planet at One Foot Island in the Cook Islands! That was definitely the highlight of the year for VV travel..
BTW, we can’t wait to share some new video adventures from the Cook Islands with you in the New Year. (Teaser: we got lost on yet another tiny island. Just not sure how we continue to do this!)
This year we both took some important steps towards our individual goals, both professionally and personally. Often throughout the year we found that those two overlapped, sometimes conflicting and sometimes beautifully in sync.
If we had to sum up this year in a word, it would probably be “cleaning house.” (Sorry, two words.) It’s actually a Chinese New Year’s tradition to clean your house in the new year for good luck and to prepare your soul and spirit for what’s to come. Clear out the clutter, so to speak, to leave room for the new to enter – physically, spiritually, emotionally, and practically.
What we mean by that is we streamlined a lot about how we’re going about our lives in every sense. We had always preached to say “yes,” but we actually learned that saying no, too, and only saying yes when something met our expectations was wildly successful in terms of cultivating more value, more worth, in all experiences and interactions. In other words, we connected with the true magic of setting intentions, manifesting your own growth, and carving your own path. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re closer than we were last year at this time!
We also decided in the later part of the year that the blog needed to be more of a blog. We realized that sharing more of what we talk about in our personal conversations might actually be of more interest than, say, a 411 of where to eat in Austin or drink in Nairobi. (But don’t worry, we’re still doing that coverage too; it’s just with a little more of a personal touch.)
This week, we each wrote down a few things we’re proud of accomplishing in 2014, as well as a few things we’d like to achieve in 2015. We wanted to share them with you in hopes that it inspires you to create your own lists! So here they are — in their raw state…
