World’s Best Mojitos on National Mojito Day

July 11, 2013 By VoyageVixens Leave a Comment

world's best mojitos
Today, July 11th, is National Mojito Day! Who invented the holiday or who originally created the summertime sipper, no one knows for sure. But any excuse to celebrate, right? A lot of the Voyage Vixens’ travels include reviewing hotspots and watering holes around the world.

In honor of National Mojito Day, here’s where to get some of the best mojitos around the world:

The Cuban-born cocktail is made of lime, sugar, white rum, mint and soda water. But like all the classic cocktails, bartenders are spinning the Mojito into all kinds of creative versions.

World's best mojitos for National Mojito day

La Bodeguita del Medio, Havana, Cuba

No better place to celebrate National Mojito Day than in the country the cocktail originated. La Bodeguita del Medio was Ernest Hemingway’s haunt and where he imbibed Mojitos profusely. Although some handwriting experts doubt its authenticity, it is said the saying “My mojito in La Bodeguita, My daiquiri in El Floridita” written on the wall of the bar is by Hemingway himself.

Bazaar Bar, Los Angeles

Known for their molecular cocktails, the Bazaar Bar inside the SLS Hotel serves up a frosty version of the Mojito by utilizing liquid nitrogen (in headline photo). It’s then topped with a bouquet of edible flowers for true masterpiece in a glass.

Rock Bar, Bali

Rock Bar often lands on the Best Bar awards for both its ocean views and tasty cocktails. It’s a stellar place to watch the sunset with their stunning Mojitos. Bartender Laval Lim-Hon serves up Mojitos in glasses suspended over natural rock within a fishbowl base. Make sure to dress up for this oh-so-glam bar.

New York Bar, Tokyo, Japan

This sleek and sexy bar offers stunning views of the city from the 52nd floor of the Hyatt Hotel. Because Cuban rum is not banned as it is in the States, Cuban 3-year-old Havana Club rum makes the Mojitos sublime. New York Bar is also a Tokyo hotspot for live music; the bar features jazz by international artists nightly.

Fix, Surfers Paradise, Australia

The Aussies know how to have a good time for a long time. At the Hilton Hotel, they offer the ultimate ‘morning-after’ cocktail – the Breakfast Mojito. It’s a deconstructed cocktail with all the ingredients served separately so you can be your own bartender.

Happy National Mojito Day!

WHO ARE THE VIXENS?

Lanee Lee and Lindsay Taub of Voyage Vixens

Hi! We're Lanee and Lindsay. You may have gotten to this page because you're intrigued by the word "vixens" or maybe you found some of our porn online (#travelporn, that is!). Either way, we are fully aware we are not what you typically think of when you hear the word "vixen", i.e. boobalicious babe wearing skintight minidresses in 6-inch heels. In our book, you don't need DDs to be a VV. To us -- vixens are smart and sassy women (and men, why not?!) who take action, scared sh**less or not, to turn their dreams into realities. Now you know a little about us; we'd like to get to know you. Connect with us on twitter, instagram, google+, pinterest, youtube, Facebook, tumblr, and periscope! (yes, we're on them all...#sorrynotsorry)
