Summer is synonymous with heading to the beach and if you have kids, probably some sandcastle making as well. But students from the World Sand Sculpting Academy (who knew you could get a degree in this!?), have taken the art of sand sculpting to a whole new level. Exhibiting until August 26th, fifteen sand sculptures representing heroes of fairy tales and the Bible are on display at the Erezt Israel Museum in Tel-Aviv.
The “Tales of Sand 2” exhibit, the first sand sculpture exhibit debuted in 2011, is only open in the evening as the sculptures are even more dramatic illuminated by some clever lighting. Scenes in sand include The Little Prince, The Three musketeers, Peter and the Wolf, Tarzan, Alice in Wonderland, Hans the little Dutch Boy, David and Goliath and Jonah and the whale. It took roughly two months to complete.
Here’s a preview of the jaw-dropping sand sculptures:
Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden or Jane & Tarzan, you decide.
If you’ve dreamed about making incredible sand sculptures yourself, the World Sand Sculpting Academy is located near The Hague in the Netherlands.
Maybe you’d rather just watch, of so, The World Championship of Sand Sculpting is held annually. This year it was in Atlantic City.
More on Israel Travel
We loved our trip to Israel, which focused on more adventure than culture, but whether you go for religion, culture, wine or adventure, there’s a lot to do in such a tiny country.
