Los Angeles doesn’t have snow, much less skiing. But we’re pretending it does. Three cheers for Après (post-ski party). Recently, we got to check out W Los Angeles Hotel’s swank Après menu … wait for it… poolside. Why? Because it’s L.A. and we can have a wintery fete ’round or IN the pool, for that matter.
In honor of the W Verbier, the first W Alpine Hotel in Switzerland that opened this month, W Los Angeles is getting in the snow-bunny mood with chalet-centric decor, holiday cocktails and both a sweet and savory fondue menu.
Where else in L.A. can you dip a roasted marshmallow squished between two Oreo cookies in hot peanut butter sauce while sipping on a champagne cocktail from the Veuve Clicquot airstream? Deliriously decadent, and we loved every ooey-gooey moment of it.
For an excellent girls’ night-out , preferably on a non-weekend night, reserve a Après cabana ($100) at the W Los Angeles to kick back making s’mores or dipping veggies in molten fondue cheese while imbibing the Hot Apple Pie (apple cider and Tuaca with cinnamon sugar), Candy Land Martini (Peppermint Schnapps, vodka, crème de cocoa, and a crushed peppermint chocolate rim) or the Pumpkin Pie Martini (whiskey, butter shots liquor, pumpkin liquor). Snd don’t miss the holiday photo booth or the foosball on the oh-so-chic Veuve Cliquot table.

Savory Fondue for Two
Miss Swiss – gruyere cheese, sherry, and garlic
Dive Bar – cheddar, IPA beer, and bacon
Sweet Fondue for Two
Sweet Hot – dark chocolate, pink peppercorns, and Himalayan salt
Snowflake – white chocolate, toasted coconut, and marshmallow fluff
S’mores Kit – dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, graham crackers, and housemade marshmallows
Have too much going on with the holidays to enjoy the pretend-like-we-have-skiing festivities? No worries. The Apres menu and all the accoutrements run until January 5th.
