It’s no secret that we are big fans of Kenya’s accessory designer Adele Dejak. Her phenomenal collections of jewelry and handbags first took our breath away when we visited her Nairobi studio in 2012. Now, hold on to your bag straps, because a new, dynamic side to Adele Dejak is about to take the fashion world by storm.
This year marks the launch of her AD LUX range of products, the first in the collection being the Swaady. Highlighting and exemplifying the African luxury movement that has been taking the fashion world by storm the past couple of years, the collection pays homage to a rich African heritage while celebrating the African Renaissance.
Dejak’s Nigerian roots merge perfectly with European influences in her never-ending quest for designs that allow you to express your own style. Her collections feature pieces for every style, genre, and personality, from the simple and classic to the bold and boisterous.
Working, as always, with the best artisans in Uganda and Kenya, the new “Swaady” line includes handmade bags and jewelry made from horn, recycled aluminum and recycled brass.
Dejak’s collaborators have included the liked of Salvatore Ferragamo, Abury Berlin, Milan Fashion Week Vogue Talents and Samsung/MBFWA for Amaze Africa. The official launch took place a couple of weeks ago at the annual Tribal Chic fashion show at Nairobi’s Tribe Hotel. The show was a huge success by all accounts and many of Dejak’s pieces were sold out that week.
But — they’re now back in stock! If you happen to be in the UK February 9 to 11, 2014, Adele Dejak’s we will be featuring Swaady at PURE London. Be sure to pop in and say hello from the Voyage Vixens!
