Hotels aren’t just a place to sleep anymore, but also for a stylish spin around the neighborhood (although we do NOT endorse biking in heels as demo-ed above.) Fashionable bikes, available at no charge for guests, are a new emerging trend in many swanky hotels. Instead of driving to a hot new restaurant nearby, try cycling instead. You’ll see more sights and most importantly – burn up some calories (in order to have that second glass of wine, thank you very much). In honor of National Bike Month in May, here are our recommends for cool hotel bikes:
The Ultimate Accessory: Fashionable Bikes
Gramercy Park Hotel, NYC
For the second year in a row, the Gramercy Park Hotel offers guests access to a fleet of bikes designed exclusively for the hotel by Lorenzo Martone. Last season’s couture bicycle – known as “the Christian Louboutin of bicycles” – was all white save the red chain. This season’s bikes are cobalt blue with denim seats and feature Martone’s signature bright red chain and a roomy blue bicycle basket, plus a “GPH” license plate.
Chebeague Island Inn, Maine
Located 10 miles off the coast of Portland allows guests to explore the island with L.L. Bean-designed bikes. The hotel reopens for its 5th season on May 23rd.
Montage Kapalua Bay, Maui, Hawaii
At Hawaii’s newest hotel opening in June 2014, cruise the island with vibrant Panama Jack bikes. Depending on your mood, you can choose from three different styles and include mobile party features like bottle openers and cup holders.
45 Park Lane, London
Explore Hyde Park or the streets of Mayfair on bespoke Brompton bicycles in the hotel’s signature purple color.
Le Meurice, Paris
Channel the chic, local Parisian vibe wheeling around, picking up a freshly baked baguette and brie for a picnic on Le Meurice’s pistachio-green bike.
