Losing your passport while traveling is quite simply one of the worst travel nightmares. Depending on where in the world you are, it could significantly impact your plans. It’s never happened to us (thank goodness, we’ve only lost wallets, computers, and phones!), but it happens. Passport safety isn’t just about where and how you keep it, but also how well you keep it!
True story: Patrick Dichter was headed to Europe last summer and his passport was denied for “wear and tear.” We didn’t even know that was possible – ours are pretty beat up too. But what was a travel disaster for Patrick became a creative passion project for passport safety. He invented The Passport Protector and has been perfecting the design for the past 9 months.
It’s a hardcore case that’s waterproof and impact resistant with minimal design. It’s like the Otterbox for iPhones – heavy duty protection for those of us who abuse our devices and yes, passports! What we like even more is that for each one sold, they will donate a portion to study abroad scholarships, similar to TOMS Shoes One for One program.
It’s a great idea and we’re all about it, but they need your help. The Passport Protector is about to finish a crowdfunding campaign where people can buy the product first, get a t shirt, or back the project. Watch the video below for more details. It’s down to the wire now for them to hit their goal of $15,000 and they’re oh so close.
Quite simply, this is why we want to see The Passport Protector succeed:
1. Innovative gear – it’s the most hardcore passport case made of hard ABS plastic and a rubber silicone blend. Waterproof and impact resistant.
2. Sleek design – The Passport Protector can easily fit into luggage or a jacket, be attached to a backpack, and hold other necessary items like cash or tickets.
3. They’re giving back – a portion of sales from every unit sold will go to study abroad scholarships so others get the opportunity to travel internationally.
Patrick and team, we wish you the best of luck in reaching your goal!
