We are both traveling at the moment. Lindsay is in Vancouver Island and I’m in Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, this year, we weren’t able to make it to the 60th Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) annual conference this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. But, when my phone started buzzing with tweets and texts, I wondered if we had won something. Sure enough! VoyageVixens.com won a Bronze Lowell Thomas Award in the Best Travel Blog category. It’s our second bronze award, two years in a row. (Imagine us doing that Galapagos happy dance!)
This was last year’s group of winners at SATW’s conference in Iceland.
It is truly an honor to be included among such talented writers, prestigious publications and dynamic bloggers. Check out the other Best Travel Blog winners: ThePlanetD.com (Gold) and LegalNomads.com (Silver).
And of course, many thanks, most importantly, to each and every one of YOU who follow along on our journeys, who read our rants, who care about out reviews, who know that we share our journeys with you (the good, the bad, and the straight up ugly) in hopes that it inspires you to get out there and collect those passport stamps, face those fears, have those take-your-breath-away moments.

Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism awards are named for Lowell Thomas, acclaimed broadcast journalist, prolific author and world explorer during five decades in journalism. This is the 31th annual competition sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation.
The competition, for work from spring 2014 to spring 2015, drew 1,406 entries, a near record. This year, the SATW Foundation is giving 82 awards in 24 categories. Since the first competition for work in 1984, the SATW Foundation has presented more than 2,100 awards and $420,000-plus in recognition of outstanding travel journalism.
In honoring VoyageVixens.com, the judges said last year:“In just a few moments of reading, my attention was captured and I found myself reading story after story and watching video after video. The honesty and seemingly raw video presentation make the two writers likable. The stories as well as the useful tips, recipes and other short anecdotes are worthy hours of leisurely reading, preferably by the Art and Beer palapa bar!”
Here are the 2015 comments about the blog: Even the most seasoned travelers get road weary, and the Voyage Vixens aren’t afraid to admit it. They’re smart and sassy and don’t mince words with their readers. Read about begging for change, watch video of canopy tours, road trips and swimming with whales, or chat with Lanee Lee and Lindsay Taub on social media. This blog will have you begging them to pack you in their suitcase!
