Music Festival News: Rafting, Music, and Mountains? Yes, please.

February 3, 2016 By VoyageVixens Leave a Comment

A 1,500-acre playground in West Virginia’s mountains may well be the only place in the world where visitors can combine whitewater rafting with a high-powered music festival.

The 3rd Annual Mountain Music Festival at ACE Adventure Resort takes place June 2-4, 2016, and just announced the Friday and Saturday night headliners: Trampled by Turtles from Duluth, MN, and Lotus of Philadelphia and Denver.

Mountain Music FestivalOne of the best parts of this music festival is that fans can kick it with artists on zip lines and rafts over the weekend, accompanied by bluegrass, Americana, rock, soul and funk. Other musical acts include: Galactic, The Infamous Stringdusters, Big Something, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Dumpstaphunk and more.

“This weekend marries the best of what ACE Adventure Resort does: facilitate outdoor adventure and bring in some of the country’s most outstanding musicians,” says Chris Colin, impresario. Year-round he is ACE Adventure Resort’s Special Events Coordinator and Kayak School Manager.

“You choose the adventure; we provide the soundtrack. We’re the only music festival in the world where attendees can challenge their inner pioneer by whitewater rafting with veteran guides who recommend different sections of the river for every level of expertise and interest,” he added.

There are rafting trips for families with children as young as age 6 on Upper New River with Class III rapids, and Class IV rapids for ages 9 and up on Lower New River Gorge. Rafting on the Gauley River calls for ages 15 and up to take on the challenges of Class IV and V rapids. For more information, click here.

There’s more “splash” too with The Beach Party, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday with games, obstacles and activities to entertain all ages for at least six music- and food-filled hours.

The fun takes place on ACE’s Adventure Park and Lake, a five-acre water park with slides, zip lines, inflatable toys and the famous “Blob” (a giant inflatable pillow on the water).

While you’re there, take a dip in the spring-fed mountain lake, lounge on the white sandy beach and enjoy the West Virginia sunshine.

Workshops by local presenters offer guests the chance to learn new skills while filling up a few hours until the music starts. Past workshops have included:

  • Slacklining with West Virginia Slackline
  • Morning Yoga with Kula Yoga Studio
  • Hoop Jam with BlueSkye Hoops
  • Flow & Poi Workshop with Easy Wind Family Creations
  • Disc Golf Clinics with Explore Disc Golf
Festival-goers who come for the weekend can opt to rent cabin accommodations or camp at the “we’ve thought of everything – including showers” campground, all located on premise Colin added.
Dozens of cabin rentals, bunkhouse beds and tent sites are available. Convenient dining options may begin around guests’ campfires or at the variety of lodges, bars and grills found at ACE Adventure Resort.
A variety of ticket packages are now available. The “early bird” special offers a three-day festival pass and three night’s campground reservation, access to the pre-festival party, parking and a full-day ACE Lake pass for Saturday for $170 per person .
About ACE Adventure Resort
ACE Adventure Resort is the East Coast’s largest mountain hideaway exclusively focused on world-class whitewater rafting along with guided adventures, outdoor sports and activities, lodging, camping and other amenities.
The nearby New River Gorge National River is affectionately known as the “Grand Canyon of the East” and features rafting from April to October. The New and Gauley Rivers combined offer over 100 miles of rapids all within 30 minutes of the resort. Both rivers are administered by the National Park Service.
ACE’s passion since 1980 has been to create vacations wrapped around these rivers and other outdoor adventures so that guests can experience “a world of adventure in one place.” The 1,500 acres here encompass both forest and a 5-acre lake plus a series of ponds, a mining-era ghost town and spectacular cliffs for rock climbing, waterfalls and overlooks.

WHO ARE THE VIXENS?

Lanee Lee and Lindsay Taub of Voyage Vixens

Hi! We're Lanee and Lindsay. You may have gotten to this page because you're intrigued by the word "vixens" or maybe you found some of our porn online (#travelporn, that is!). Either way, we are fully aware we are not what you typically think of when you hear the word "vixen", i.e. boobalicious babe wearing skintight minidresses in 6-inch heels. In our book, you don't need DDs to be a VV. To us -- vixens are smart and sassy women (and men, why not?!) who take action, scared sh**less or not, to turn their dreams into realities. Now you know a little about us; we'd like to get to know you. Connect with us on twitter, instagram, google+, pinterest, youtube, Facebook, tumblr, and periscope! (yes, we're on them all...#sorrynotsorry)
