Although we’re travel experts, on the global road at least once a month, we often make rookie mistakes – sometimes innocent and sometimes outright ridiculous. This video, as a part of a MSN and Delta Airlines “Outrageous Travel Stories” campaign by Trium Entertainment illustrates how Lanee and her pals should NOT have driven a rental car in Costa Rica.
Lanee went to Costa Rica with a girlfriend, this was long before Voyage Vixens was born, and two surfer guy friends. During their time, they experienced falling asleep to the howling monkeys at Bosque del Cabo in the very southern tip of Osa Penisula, a raging Rastafarian nightlife scene in Tamarindo and natural hot springs soaks near the stunning Arenal Volcano area.
Take a lesson from her rental car disaster on your next trip to Costa Rica. Promise, watch this crazy rental car in Costa Rica tale and it’ll save you a lot of drama and dough!

Delta Connections Travel Stories
The producers at Trium Entertainment loved Lanee’s Costa Rica story and decided to include her in this project.
Delta Connections highlights five outrageous travel stories from around the globe. In the series, they interview the people who’ve lived through, and overcame, some of travel’s biggest challenges – from heart warming to harrowing.

Just want to make a point, that the video scenes of the car in the river, and the other cars pulling it are not from Costa Rica, producers should have make clear those are for illustration purposes 🙂
Yes, Efra, we agree 100% – that should have been made clear. Note: we had nothing to do with the production or post-production. Lanee was strickly cast to share her story.
Car rental insurance in Costa Rica does not cover river crossings. What did you have to pay for the car?
You’re right Andres! It was a very costly mistake. Please never drive a rental car across a river – it will cost thousands of dollars in the event of a mishap. Can’t remember the exact amount we had to pay now….
